Let's bust some self-care myths!
I'm here to set the record straight about some self-care myths!
Myth 1) Self-care means being selfish. 🤔
Taking care of yourself is the opposite of being selfish! Self-care helps you be the best version of yourself. Being the best version of you is a much better version for your loved ones, friends, colleagues, and acquaintances to be around! You are stronger and able to support them better if you have first taken care of yourself. Remember, on a flight you have to put your own oxygen mask on first before you can help others.
Myth 2) Self-care is expensive.🤑
Some of my favourite self-care activities are also the cheapest! I like to go for a walk whilst listening to a podcast or have a long, luxurious bath. You can make your own self-care as expensive or as cheap as you like.
Myth 3) Self-care is a time drain. ⏳
Self-care may involve extensive routines and take up lots of your time - but it doesn’t have to be that way. Making small, consistent, daily changes (five minutes of meditation every morning, taking a little time each afternoon for a cup of tea and watching some birds, or stretching every night before bed, for example) can be life-changing if you do it consistently. Take a little time every day to take care of yourself.
There we have it - 3 self-care myths busted! What other myths have you heard that need busting?
